Corey Osborn Beale Street Note Ceremony and Benefit Show For Ruby Wilson

April 21, 2009

corey-oOn Tuesday, April 21, at 5:30 pm the brass note honoring Corey Osborn will be dedicated in Beale Street’s walk of fame. The dedication will take place in front of The Tap Room at 168 Beale.ruby

Corey Osborn (1985-2008) was a guitar prodigy who began playing at age 11. Osborn and his band entered the International Blues Challenge at age 15 and was a regular performer at B. B. King’s at age 16. Osborn went on the play clubs and festivals around the US including the Knitting Factory. His promising career was cut short by his untimely death at age 23 in November of 2008 in an automobile accident.

Following Brass Note ceremony the Corey Osborn Let the Music Play Fund will have a benefit concert for Ruby Wilson.

On January 1, the Queen of Beale Street, Ruby Wilson suffered a stroke. She is recovering well, and we have every hope that she will be singing again in a few months. In the meantime, she is having a very difficult time financially.  The organizers of the Corey Osborn Let the Music Play Fund are presenting a concert tonight at B.B. King’s on Beale Street. Come on out and see some great music. Festivities start around 7:30pm.
