Opera Memphis Presents Faust
Opera Memphis will be concluding its 2008-2009 season with its production of Gounod’s Faust. This opera tells the tale of an aging Faust who is dissatisfied with his life a scholar. He sells his soul to the Devil in exchange for the pleasures of women and youth. Opera Memphis claims that “this supernatural tale will take you on an adventure where good triumphs over evil. You won’t want to miss this masterpiece featuring the famous Jewel Song and “Avant de quitter.”
The production will star Adam Klein of the Metropolitan Opera as Faust and Caroline Worra as Marguerite. Darren K. Stokes will take on the role of Mephistopheles, and Mark Walters will play Valentin. The production will be directed by Matthew Lata, making his Opera Memphis debut.
Opera Memphis will be performing Faust at the Orpheum Theatre located at 203 S. Main Street on April 25th and 28th at 7:30 PM.
