Genres colliding,  Joan Red has manipulated modern songwriting in the Rock/Alternative/Power Rock formats to feed their ‘rock hungry’ audience with limitless hooks and choruses.  Often described as “Disturbed meets The Killers” , they have shared the stage with national touring acts that include 3 Days Grace, Seether, One Less Reason, Taproot, Egypt Central, Saving Abel, Staind and Trust Co.

If the promise of a live show by one of the most promising locally-based rock acts wasn’t enough, they went to the trouble of pulling out all the stops in booking their support acts, giving their fans a taste of some of the best music Memphis has yet to hear of:

Stiff Kitty is an all-original band based out of Memphis, Tennessee consisting of members Todd Poole (Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitars), Flexer (Lead Guitar/Background Vocals), John Snyder (Bass Guitar) and Ronnie Knight (Drums). The band’s sound is based on hard driven yet melodic songs. Stiff Kitty ranges from hard rockers such as “Push”, “No Body Cares”,”Stand Alone” and “Out of Control” to more Mainstream fare such as “RedLight”, “Save Me”, World Breaks Down”, and “Runaway Train”.

The band completed their 11 song debut CD at the end of December ’08 which was recorded and mixed at Leeway Music Studio in Memphis, TN. Producing, recording, and mixing for the band was the one and only Jason Latshaw.

agent jane’s sound evolved from a fusion of alternative rock and progressive metal. Being more artistic than trendy, it is difficult to put agent jane’s diverse sound in a neat little box. The music reaches deep down into a gloomy underworld and explodes into blinding light; reminiscent of The Cure’s ability to be both ugly and beautiful. Old-school Black Sabbath riffs and hallowing vocals merged with new-school songwriting evoke feelings of a heavy Radiohead. Hallucinogenic jazz-like time signatures weave into dominant grooves to create an atmosphere of vulnerability and uncertainness. Songs will flow from a soft Jeff Buckley touch to an Alice in Chains-like ferocity. The arrangement of each song is completely unique and will take listeners on a journey of vivid emotions.

Roses Unread is a band which originated out of Brownsville, Tn consisting of vocalist Allison Teague, guitarists John “Crickle” Purifoy and Memphis native Justin Rublaitus, drummer Brad Pounders, and bassist Jordan Shempert. The band has been going strong for about 2 years with a change in line up throughout the band’s journey. The band has played with 12 stones, Lynam, The Becoming and has played with many other great bands. The band is looking to record in the future and play all over this summer…. so be on the lookout!
