Drum Shop Clinic Tuesday with Galactic’s Stanton Moore

March 8, 2010

On the evening of March 9th, Mid-south drummers and percussionists are invited to attend a special drum clinic featuring renowned jazz/funk drummer Stanton Moore. Popular for his New Orleans style drumming, Moore will showcase his unique talents in a 2-hour session full of performance, lessons, and personal experiences. Founding member of the immensely popular “steamroller funk” band Galactic, Moore tours regularly on the international funk-groove scene. When not performing with his band, Moore is busy working on several side projects including his various solo albums, instructional DVDs, and recording projects with an ever-evolving cast of musicians from around the world. Moore stays very involved in education, constantly teaching private lessons in New Orleans and on the road. He was a contributing writer for Drum! magazine and is currently a regular writer for Modern Drummer magazine. In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Moore spearheaded a workshop to work with young and developing musicians in the New Orleans area, focusing on the preservation of New Orleans music and culture.

Attendees will have the opportunity to interact directly with Moore during the question-and-answer portion of the drum clinic. Afterwards, fans will have a chance to get an autograph or take a photo with Moore.

This clinic is brought to you by Memphis Drum Shop and Gretsch Drums in a continuing effort to inspire and educate the local drumming community.
