MEMPHIS MUSIC FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES MEMPHIS MUSIC @ SXSW Showcase 2010
Jody Stephens of Big Star will join Star and Micey for rocking set at the Memphis Means Music/SXSW booth
MEMPHIS, TN – The Memphis Music Foundation’s second annual South by Southwest showcase, Memphis Music @ SXSW, will be held at Barberella in Austin, Texas on Thursday, March 18th at 8 p.m.
Memphis Music @ SXSW will feature Memphis’ folk-indie-rock singer-songwriter Corey Branan, Harlan T. Bobo, Star and Micey, joined by Big Star’s Jody Stephens, , playing a bluesy rock set from his most recent album, I’m Your Man, on Goner Records, and Hill Country Revue’s gritty, stripped down, back-to-the-roots-of-the-blues from the band’s Make a Move. The showcase headliners are Memphis’ renowned Hip Hop duo 8Ball and MJG performing tracks from their forthcoming new album, Ten Toes Down.
Jody Stephens of the legendary indie rock band Big Star will join Star and Micey’s Geoff Smith and Joshua Cosby for two intimate acoustic sets at the Memphis Music Foundation’s SXSW booth (#101/200) on Thursday and Friday at 1 p.m.
Memphis Music @ SXSW 2010 @ 615 Red River Street, Austin, TX is set for Thursday, March 18th. Doors open at 8:00 PM, and music starts shortly thereafter.
The Memphis Music Foundation serves as a career resource center for local musicians, creates educational seminars and symposiums, and builds one-on-one mentoring programs through its Music Resource Center. Later this month the Foundation is debuting a Memphis showcase at Nashville’s famed Bluebird Café during the Tin Pan South Songwriters Conference.
