We’ve got our countdown clock ticking by the minutes here at the MMF, and today it tells us that there are just 58 days until our MML Showcase. This weekend our finalists and other MML participants will gather at the MRC for a media training workshop to give them the best foot forward as they start promoting the showcase heavily in the next less-than-two-months. Here’s a little update from each of our finalists on what they’ve been up to this week.
ButtaMD has been keeping busy both with the creative side and the business side of her project. She’s got a performance coming up this weekend at a poetry night at Chief Corner Stone Church on Saturday, and she’s working on determining a domain name and launching her web site. She’s also looking ahead to July 8 and planning her stage show.
The guys of Arvada have been in the studio this week, mixing at Young Avenue Sound. They’ve also found a permanent drummer, tracked vocals and edited “Don’t Panic.” By this week’s end, team leader Wes says they will have the mixed stems out to dub step DJs for the remix competition they’re launching.
Go Judo Presents: Sunny Uppercut
While perfecting their MML single “Grocery Store,” Go Judo’s team has also been working on writing and recording new tracks, and they’re looking ahead to some performances to prepare them for the July showcase. They also had a photo shoot this week with Ziggy Mack.
The members of The Delta Collective performed at the first-ever Bristerfest at the Levitt Shell last night, decently high up on a bill that featured seven other local acts. Along with some solo acoustic songs by band members Brad Riales and Chris Wilihite, the band performed four original numbers including the song that secured their spot as an MML finalist, “Valley of Kings.”
